Behind the Wheel - February 12

Welcome to 2012 and another great year of car fun at Mustangs Northwest and my first month as the newly installed President.

If you were unable to attend the annual MNW Banquet in January simply put you missed a great celebration. Bill Smallwood III put together another super celebration at an interesting venue.  Thanks Bill for all that effort and of course that magnificent Mustang Cake.

Have been asked by several people “What are you going to change?”. The club is in good condition so there is no need to make wholesale changes. But some change is in order of course. The first one I have made is to change the title of this column.  Figured that would be acceptable to most people and not require Board approval.

Another is a promise that the 2012 Board will be open, honest and most importantly a respectful group. Effective immediately the first 20 minutes of every Board meeting will be set aside for the membership to come before the Board and discuss or present any topic that you desire. Next as provided by the MNW constitution at every monthly meeting the membership will either have available a written report of what business was conducted at the last Board meeting or this report might be presented verbally. The membership is only asked to accept not only the good news but the warts that come along from time to time. Every member is invited to any Board meeting; you may come for the entire meeting or just a part of the meeting. Come see how your Board is taking care of your club.

A fun event from Pat Trines’ period as MNW President will return with a twist. As you may recall Pat use to select one member at each meeting and present them with a cool gift. Starting at the Feb. meeting one member’s name will be drawn from the hat and that member will win a cool gift. The catch you ask? The name will be drawn from a bowl that has every members name and you must be in attendance to win the prize. The only way to have your name put back into the bowl is to come to a future meeting. Every month one cool gift will be available.

There are other ideas on the table and these will require action by the entire Board before they can be implemented.

Will do my best to locate and schedule guest speakers to keep us informed about a variety of topics that will be of interest to the membership. If you have a topic in mind or know of a person that would be interested in speaking to the membership contact me.

By all means feel free to contact me with any comments or concerns. Hope to see each of you at the Feb. meeting.

Mike
