Car Of The Month - Mar 10
Mary Combs' 1964 1/2 Convertible
Pony’s Story
I have loved and have owned several Mustangs all of my life. However, I had never owned a Convertible, and I had always wanted one, so when my husband went to the Mustang Ranch in Eatonville, in search for a few parts for my 66 Coupe, he saw a Want Ad for a 1964 1/2 Convertible that we couldn’t pass up.
My husband took out a loan from his union, and I used some funds from a recent real estate inheritance, and we bought the car as-is for $10,000. The car was a basket case! There were parts piled high inside the car, and it took me two years (and nearly $40,000) to restore it back to all its original parts and condition. The Quarter panel, floor to front – are all original 1964 1/2.
This car is #85, built in
Last summer was my first experience with Mustangs Northwest, when my husband and I attended the 2009 Mustang Roundup. My car took 3rd place in the occasional driver category, and I met a lot of people who showed me how to clean and care for my car so that it would be better judged in the future.
