From The Prez - May 10
Here’s hoping that the old saying that “April showers bring May flowers” comes true! By the time you receive this issue of the Pony Express, the 2010 Car Show Season will have officially kicked off! The Second Annual Mustang Birthday Party at Ford of Kirkland kicked off the season on April 17th. Many of you will also have attended the Port Angeles Show the first weekend in May.
The next big show opportunity will be Mustangs Northwest’s own “Spring Into Summer” judged show on Saturday, May 8th! This is your only opportunity to participate in a judged show prior to the 2010 MCA Grand National in July! I recommend that you take advantage of this opportunity to have your car judged and to also refresh your judging skills prior to the Grand National. Remlinger Farms is a great location for the show and I look forward to seeing everyone there.
I want to personally thank the Judged Committee for the seminar that they presented at Ford of Kirkland. It was a great experience for some new members and a very good refresher for some of us old-timers!
I would also like to thank Shannon Wolk for coordinating the MNW Poker Run on Sunday, April 11th. Twelve teams participated and everyone had a great time. Deana and I worked a checkpoint since we had already run the course. It was a great opportunity for us to visit with new and old club members.
Preparation for the MCA Grand National Show in July continues at a hectic pace. The Grand National Show Committee has been working feverishly putting everything together. Look for the Grand National Event Flyer at the May General Meeting!
The “Volunteer Book” made appearances at the March & April General Meetings. We still need lots more positions filled! You can contact Robin Mitchell to volunteer and reserve a spot for your favorite volunteer opportunity at the Grand National Show (you don’t need to wait for the May meeting – Give her a call).
The next paragraph is a repeat from my last month’s column and a plea for club members to support my MCA Membership Challenge!
Mustangs Northwest is a Mustang Club of America Regional Club. We have approximately eighty MNW members that belong to MCA. At the March General Meeting I issued a challenge to our MNW members who are not currently members of MCA to become members. I would very much like to increase our participation in MCA to 101 members prior to the MCA Grand National Show in July! I know, that’s another 20+ members to recruit. I think that it would be great to hand the MCA President a list of 101 (or more) Mustangs Northwest members who are also MCA members. We would be one of very few clubs that have 100+ members! So, if you are not currently a member of MCA I ask that you become a member. Please contact Scott Robinson or myself for information about MCA or go to the MCA website (www.mustang.org) and become a member online or download an application for membership.”
That’s all for now, I look forward to seeing you all at the May meeting. Feel free to email or call me anytime you have questions or concerns.
