From The Prez - Oct 10
I would like to start off by accepting responsibility for a “gaff” I made at the September 10th General Meeting. It totally slipped my mind that the following day was the 9th Anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. My failure to mention this and pay tribute to our service members, firefighters and law enforcement personnel did not go unnoticed by some of you that attended the meeting. I humbly apologize for this oversight and will try to do better in the future.
October! Can you believe it! Where did the summer go!
The show season is behind us by now and I’m not sure what we’ll do with all the free time! J What a show season it has been for all of us. It provided us with opportunities to see new cars, meet new people, and just have some fun.
The 2010 MCA Grand National and 30th Annual Mustang Roundup was a smashing success for Mustangs Northwest. The 2011 Roundup Committee had its first meeting in late August and submitted a recommendation to the Board that Roundup 2011 be held at Bellevue College in spite of a major construction project that will take place at the college. At the September MNW Board meeting their recommendation was approved so Roundup 2011 will take place on July 14 thru 17 with Saturday and Sunday at the college. Also at this meeting the Board approved yours truly to be the Roundup Chairperson for 2011.
The next meeting of the 2011 Roundup Committee will be held on Monday, October 4th at 7:00 PM at the Overlake Roundtable Pizza. This show belongs to all members and I encourage you to participate in our year-long efforts to continue to make Roundup “the world’s largest annual gathering of Mustangs”.
The process to select our officers and board members for 2011 officially began at the September Board Meeting. The following members were nominated for club officer positions. President – Jim Couture, Vice President – No nomination, Secretary – No Nomination, Treasurer – Debbie Moore, and Membership Chair – Deana Couture. These nominations will be opened again at the October General Meeting. I strongly encourage one and all to consider running for an officer or Board position.
We still have to come up with solution to the upcoming loss of Dave Penwell from his Tack Shack position. Anyone interested should contact me or any board member as soon as possible.
As I mentioned previously a $250 Gift Certificate from Pony Carburetors, Inc. went “unclaimed” at the Grand National Show so we have decided to sell raffle tickets for it at the September and October General Meeting. Due to circumstances beyond our control we were unable to begin selling raffle tickets at the September meeting. We will now sell tickets in October and November with the winning ticket being drawn at the November meeting. It will give us an opportunity to raise more money to donate to our favorite charities!
