"Food Lifeline EventOctober 18, 2008"
Mustangs Northwest has the opportunity to volunteer and help again at the Shoreline facility on Saturday, October 18. We have the date but the time slot is not finalized yet, so we could be there either from 9 am-12 pm or from 1 pm-4 pm, and I am working with them to confirm where they need us the most.
Because this opportunity is in the fall, and the club will be done with most of its shows for the season, this is the perfect time for more people to come and join us. I do not know what we will be repacking, but I was guaranteed NO SQUASH…
I will not be at the September meeting but will ask the person who is covering for me to route a clipboard around and get those in attendance to sign up. I will be back for the October meeting and will do the same process there.
If you would like to make this a fun event, then I challenge you to attend and get a team together. I will have a prize for the team that repacks the most food to help our community.
If you aren't going to be at the September or October meeting and plan to attend, or if you have any questions, then please call me and I will add you to the list.

"OPERATION 'BEAT THE BEAVER' HAS BEGUN"
By Rob Ogden
Mustangs Northwest now has a top secret SVT skunkworks with the primary goal to beat the Beaver. What is the Beaver? It is Ron Foster's undefeated pinewood derby car. Yes, it is an Oregon State reference. Ron's car has been the fastest for two years in a row. While a few other pinewood derby cars came close, the Beaver still prevailed. To de-throne the Beaver, several MNW members are taking it upon themselves to build a better, faster pinewood derby car for next year.
The following is a brief recap of a few of the basic rules. The cars can weigh no more than 5 ounces, and the maximum length is 7 inches. No assistive propulsion devices are allowed. Only dry lubricant is permitted, such as graphite or Teflon (no liquids).
Several new designs are now on the drawing board, any of which could become reality in time for next year's club picnic. SVT? Yeah, in a strange sort of way we are a Special Vehicle Team. I guess it's not really that much of a secret after all. Either way, we're hot on the Beaver's tail.
