Hi! I'm Alexander Card, one of the newest (hey -- maybe I am THE newest!) members of Mustangs Northwest. Who brought me into the club? Well, my Dad and Mum, Brian and Maria Card, with a lot of help from another Mustangs Northwest member, Dr. Jim Joki. My full name is Alexander Martin Gordon Card. Martin is for my Mum's grandfather, and Gordon is for my Dad's grandfather. One of Dr. Joki's nurses said I'm the little baby with the big name!
I guess you could say I've liked Mustangs since before I was born, but Dad and Mum say I come by it honestly. You see, they met at the International Mustang Meet in
My current ride is a Rangoon Red '65 convertible, with a three-speed standard transmission and dual pedal power plant. It's stock today, but it's hard to say where I might go with it next. You can see by the photos that it's really relaxing to drive, and I love the feel of the open air.
Future interests and hobbies, as I grow up a bit more (and can reach the pedals better), will definitely include Ford-powered - vehicles. I might get into racing, although Dad would prefer oval track or slalom and Mum's faves are road course and drag strip. We'll see. And of course, restorations and performance tuning. And car shows too! In fact, I'm scheduled to make my first appearance at the International Mustang Meet this coming Labor Day in
I have a lot to learn about all this car stuff, but think I'm in some pretty good hands. My parents are new at the "being parents" part too, so it's good that we'll all be learning together. Dad has already found some choice items from the Ford Collection for me to wear at upcoming shows, and has started reading me bedtime stories out of this huge book called the "Ford Master Parts Catalog, Final Issue May 1975." He knows a lot of it by heart already, but likes to show me all the pictures.
Thanks for letting me show off 'my baby' -- I'm looking forward to being able to cruise around the driveway in her once I'm old enough! I hope to meet everybody soon!
