Mustangs Northwest Annual Banquet

January 9, 2010 - 7:00-10:00pm

Museum of History and Industry

Seattle

As announced in last month’s newsletter and prior General Meetings, this year’s annual banquet will be held at the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) nestled on the shores of Lake Washington in beautiful McCurdy Park.  The event will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 7-10 pm.  Please note that we do not have a General Meeting in January as we hold the banquet instead.  The event will be catered by Pyramid Catering who will be providing their most popular dinner buffet featuring a full, yet well balanced menu, with fresh local flavors that are bound to satisfy any and all appetites.  Their delicious menu starts with hors d’oeuvres passed on trays, followed by a magnificent buffet featuring seafood, beef, chicken, pasta and vegetarian items, and finishes with Tully’s coffee, a dessert buffet and beverage service.  Please note that this will be a non-alcohol event to keep the costs down.

The reception and dining area will be in the McCurdy Gallery, which can comfortably accommodate 200 people.  This gallery features a selection of photographs celebrating the centennial of the Alaska-Yukon Pacific Exposition.  We will also have access to two additional galleries for our viewing pleasure.  These galleries include the following exhibits:  Essential Seattle – MOHAI’s core exhibit examining more than 150 years of Seattle history where you meet the people, hear the stories and explore the events that shaped the modern city; The Great Seattle Fire – MOHAI stokes the fires of curiosity with the infamous glue pot and other artifacts from the fire that leveled the city on June 6, 1989; Salmon Stakes – a journey through 20th century fisheries seen through the eyes of the average worker; and the Boeing Johnson Gallery – featuring displays of Seattle icons, including Boeing’s first plane, the famous B-1 flying boat from 1919, the Slo-Mo-Shun IV Hydroplane that invented summer in Seattle after setting the water speed record on Lake Washington and winning the coveted Gold Cup in Detroit in 1950, the pink Lincoln “Toe Truck” (you will have to attend to find out if it’s the left foot or right foot), and the Hammons House, a miniature southern Colonial mansion, known by many as “the dollhouse”.

The best news of all is that you get all of this for only $30 per person.  If you haven’t done so already, please purchase your tickets at the December general meeting as we need to provide a final head count to the caterer.  Also, as another reminder, we are looking for donations for auction items for both the silent and live auction events.  Please remember to bring your donated item(s) to the December general meeting or please contact Mike Zimmer for other arrangements.

OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS POTLUCK

Saturday, December 5th, 2009, commencing at 6:00 p.m. at the

Sammamish Valley Grange

 14654 – 148th Ave. N.E.
Woodinville, WA  98072 – 6954

Please come join your Mustangs Northwest friends for an informal, relaxing evening of sharing holiday cheer!   With your anticipation of the fun you’ll have making new friends and spending time with those who are “tried and true,” please bring the following:

 - A Salad, a main dish or a dessert serving at least 10- 12.

 - A wrapped gift for each person in your party who is 16 years old or older who would like to participate in our club’s traditional gift exchange.  As this is an old-fashioned event, we’d like to encourage you to keep the cost under $15 per gift; perhaps by making it yourself.  I know we have many talented “crafters” in the club.   If you are not the “artsy-crafty” type perhaps you could drop by one of the local Craft Fairs and pick up something there.

- For each person in your party who is 15 years old, or younger, please bring a wrapped gift with their name written clearly on the gift (or gift tag.)  We trust that you are the best person to choose a special reasonably priced gift for each child in your party.  These special gifts will be distributed just before the Adults’ gift exchange begins.

The club will be providing beverages and paper goods.

We can use help with the following:

 -  Any suggestions you might have to make the evening better.

 -  We’d like to borrow a wood rocking chair and oval round rug for the evening.

 -  If one of you has been a Santa, Mrs. Clause or Santa’s Helper, has the necessary accessories and is interested in helping host for the evening – I’d really like to talk to you.

 -  Set up will begin at 4:00 p.m. , clean-up when the general exodus to go home ends.  Many of you filled out the survey and suggested you’d be willing to help.  If you are still willing and able, we’d love to hear from you.

If you could help in any of these areas, please call us at 206-367-7344 and leave a message or e-mail us
debram@wzbcpa.com and confirm that you are still able and willing.

P.S. – Our rental agreement prohibits alcohol on the premises for the evening.

Mustangs with heart—Food Lifeline event

Are you ready for a challenge?  Are you ready to show the Robots that the Mustangs can do this?  Is this the TRANSFORMER CHALLENGE?...oh wrong car.  What car was it?

If so, then join us on Saturday, December 19 from 1-4 pm at Food Lifeline.  We will be participating in one of our annual charity give-backs for those less fortunate.

If you are interested, please email me at lxrobin@gmail.com.  At the November meeting I had 19 people sign up for the event.  Kevin has about 15 Robotics kids and parents coming, so we are well on our way of having a full house.  If you are interested in coming, please let me know as soon as possible, as I will need to let Food Lifeline know how many are planning on attending.

On the day of the event - let’s bring food to donate to Food Lifeline as part of our giving back.  If you have any questions, please give me a call at home after 7:00 pm any evening - (360) 668-3328.
