Breaking News - Feb 10
From the Newsletter Lady
February is here, and love is in the air! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and soon it will be time to celebrate the most cherished noun, verb, and adjective in the English language: LOVE!
If you are lucky, Valentine’s Day might mean snuggling up with your sweetie, cuddling up with a good book in front of the fire, or rekindling the passion with the one you love. Maybe it means receiving a bouquet of flowers, sending little love notes, devouring a box of decadent chocolates, or a nice gourmet meal that YOU don’t have to cook!
Or...if you are like me, your Valentines Day picture might look a little different. For me, Valentine’s Day means cuddling up with two sticky-fingered little girls hyped up on sugary Valentine candy, a couple of smelly dogs fighting for space on the couch, and my husband spending some quality time with me, before retreating to his “man cave” to watch the Daytona 500, led this year by a 2010 Mustang Pace car—and if I am lucky, maybe I will get a card from the dollar store.
Well….maybe that is exaggerating a bit (I love you babe!)….but in any case, I wouldn’t trade my version of Valentine’s Day for the World! Because although my version does not match the epitome of Hollywood glamour or a steamy romance novel, I am still blessed with the opportunity to spend time with the ones I love. You couldn’t buy a better Valentine’s Day than that!
So if you are burning rubber and cruisin’ with the top down, or spending a quiet evening at home—I hope you are spending quality time with the ones you love!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Carroll Shelby
September 12, 2010—The 2010 Kirkland Concours d'Elegance will honor Carroll Shelby's more than fifty years of impressive achievements in automotive design and racing. Two special classes, "Screamers by Ford" and 2005 Ford GTs will showcase many of the icons he created.
Carroll Shelby entered the automotive world in the 1952 following his service in WWII. He began as an amateur racecar driver and quickly ascended the ranks of racers, driving for Cad-Allard, Aston-Martin, Austin-Healey and Maserati. He set sixteen international speed records in a streamlined, supercharged Austin-Healey 100S.
Shelby-American was formed and began building the famed Cobra that combined an English AC chassis and Ford engines. The Cobra made its debut in 1962 an evolved into a 427 cubic inch V-8 version in 1965-67. That same year the Shelby Mustang GT350 met the public and the GT-40 was launched in the racing world. All of these vehicles saw the racing circuit with many victories to their credit. Ford enjoyed particularly great pride as the GT-40s earn multiple wins at LeMans in 1966-68.
Carroll Shelby has gone on to develop successive generations of the Mustang to the present day. The famed GT-40 was reborn in a street legal version as the Ford GT and produced in 2005 and 2006. Carroll Shelby has developed offerings for Dodge, Chrysler and other manufacturers. He has been repeatedly recognized internationally including induction into International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1991, the Mustang Club of America's Hall of Fame in 1996, and as Automotive Executive of the Year in 2008.
